LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's basketball team beat Bethesda 82-64 on Saturday night, moving to 3-0 on the season.

Caleb Yellin-Flaherty led the way with 20 points, six rebounds and seven assists, to go along with good defense on and off the ball.

Kyle Dosa, who's emerged as a key starter for the Tigers this season, scored a career-high 17 points on 7 for 9 shooting, and had seven rebounds and no turnovers. He was strong with the ball and made good hockey passes that led to open shots.

The Tigers jumped out to a 43-29 lead at half and then after Bethesda made their second-half push, Ryan Kaneshiro led the Tigers' defense for a couple key stretches as Oxy got stops and slowly pulled away.

Kaneshiro rebounded well, along with playing good defense before and after his man caught the ball. He scored two points, seven rebounds and passed well with seven assists.

Jacob Adler had an off night shooting the ball, going 5 for 11, but still finished with 12 points.

The Tigers got key contributions for a trio of freshman. Sydney Shipp had 11 points, three rebounds and played good defense, Evan Dray had 10 points and nine rebounds, and Gray Davidson scored 8 points, showing off spurts of athleticism by the basket at both ends of the court.

Bethesda's Josiah Woods kept the Flames in the game and gave them a chance, lighting Oxy up for 27 points on 9 for 12 shooting from the 3-point line.

Next Game: The Tigers are back in action against Westmont in an exhibition game on Tuesday.
