Oxy Pushes Past Austin College in Fourth

LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's water polo team played strong late, swimming away from Austin College for a 17-12 win at Taylor Pool on Friday night.

Oxy outscored the Kangaroos 7-3 in the fourth quarter, pushing what was a competitive game out of reach.

Elijah Havens led the way with four goals, Tanner Jones and Joseph Cox each added three, and Cian Concannon and Kellen Radtkey each had two. Wilson Noll, Christian Guillaume and Walter Sandbloom rounded out Oxy's scorers with a goal each.

Shea Grosz had an outstanding six assists, setting up teammates throughout the evening. Hayden Comerford added three assists and Jasper Lee chipped in two.

The Tigers played good defense in the first half, holding Austin College to just four goals in the first 16 minutes.

Cole Ivey started for Oxy in goal, making four saves.

Cade Griffith led Austin College with three goals. 

Season Impact: Oxy improves to 7-8 on the season.

Austin College falls to 0-11.

Next Game: The Tigers have a quick turnaround, facing Claremont-Mudd-Scripps at home on Saturday at 11 a.m.
