LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's water polo team was painfully close to beating La Verne in an 11-10 loss at Taylor Pool on Saturday.
The Tigers made a big push in the fourth quarter, cutting what was once a four-goal lead to one and had the ball and a chance to tie, but came up empty handed in the final minute.
Oxy dug itself a hole in each half, going scoreless in the first and third quarters.
The Tigers were just inches away from scoring on several occasions throughout the first quarter in particular, hitting the cage six times in the 8 minutes.
Cian Concannon led the Tigers with three goals, two steals and six drawn exclusions. Nicolas Lipari added two goals and three assists, Christian Guillaume had two goals, Jasper Lee, Joseph Cox and Jarrod Norton each had one goal, and Shea Growz had three assists.
Myles Storms and Guillermo Ortega led the Leopards with three goals each.
Oxy is back in action on Wednesday, playing Chapman at home at 7 p.m.
