LOS ANGELES — The Occidental men's water polo team fell in a shootout to Chapman 23-20 at Taylor Pool on Wednesday night.
Jarrod Norton, a first year from Newbury Park, led Oxy, tying for a game-high with five goals.
Chapman's Graham Asalone also scored five goals.
Nicolas Lipari scored four goals, had three assists, three steals and three drawn exlusions for Oxy. Hayden Comerford had three goals and three assists, Elijah Havens had three goals and two assists, and Joseph Cox had two goals and two assists.
Oxy tied its second-best scoring output against SCIAC teams, and scored 20 or more goals for the fourth time this season.
"We are beginning to compete at a high level and you can see it in the results," Oxy head coach Jack Stabenfeldt said. "This is a big change and it bodes well for the future. The team knows that they need to be in close games to learn to make better decisions under pressure. Our end of the quarter decision making will improve."
Season Impact: Oxy falls to 9-13 and 1-8 in SCIAC.
Chapman improves to 9-14 and 5-4.
